Driving Change with the SDGs
BM Silo has been addressing CSR and sustainability issues for years, but we have now decided to take a systematic approach by implementing concrete initiatives and evaluating our efforts.
As a first step, we conducted an internal workshop on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to increase awareness of the 17 goals, with a focus on those that BM Silo prioritizes. Our employees are key to achieving our ambitious vision, and it's crucial for us to understand the purpose, value, and benefits of these goals for both our business and daily lives.
This shared vision aims to create a more sustainable business environment, improve our lives, and ensure a better future for coming generations by focusing on quality education, responsible production and consumption, and eradicating global hunger.
Based on these considerations, we have selected 3 of the 17 goals and committed to working systematically and purposefully towards them.
By narrowing it down to three, we allow ourselves to focus and dedicate our work specifically to the goals, and targets, where we can make the biggest difference. Our ambition is to expand on the number of goals and targets over time, using them as catalysts for our sustainable development.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are about securing a better future for humanity. They address global challenges such as poverty, climate change, education, peace and justice, prosperity, and well-being, which will significantly impact future generations.
The SDGs focus on positive change in all aspects of our lives, and BM Silo’s vision and ambition are to work purposefully towards these goals to benefit both people and the planet.
We believe that corporate will and effort play a crucial role in achieving the UN agenda, and BM Silo is committed to making a difference in this regard.
Therefore, we have integrated the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into our business strategy.

No. 2 Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
What we do
We develop and produce safe and hygienic storage solutions for commodities. Our work with SDG No. 2 involves creating a positive effect concerning food quality, by reducing the development of toxins because of a better drying process.
In 2022, the first 2 silos were delivered and installed. In the coming 4 years, in collaboration with Danida, we will deliver a further 23 silos.
No. 8 Decent Work an Economic Growth
Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
What we do
Our efforts to achieve SDG target 8.8 involve creating a positive effect on social inclusion for people from the edge of the labor market. We promote diversity and inclusion in our employment practices, where we offer job opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, age, or social background. We are convinced that a diverse and inclusive workplace is beneficial for both our company and society as a whole.
By 2024 the percentage of employees hired from the edge of the labor market will proceed to be at least 22 percent of our workforce. In 2023 this part was a stable 25 to 30 percent.
No. 12 Resonsible Consumption and Production
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
What we do
In our work with SDG 12, we focus on minimizing our waste, with digitization as a driver. Our work with SDG 12 is focused on creating a positive effect on reducing CO2, by reducing waste as well as automating processes in production and digitizing processes within administration. We focus on producing quality products with long life. We must reduce the amount of waste in the production process, and set a target for this during 2024.
Scope 1 and 2 data must form the basis for concrete efforts to reduce CO2 within the production process.
